Nice one Craig, now take a couple of hours motorway instruction. It could save your life ;)

I plan to, its part of the pass plus course, however I spend a heck of alot of time on motorways, so the basic concept of driving on them doesnt worry me. Of course its alot differant behind the wheel, but at least i am going into it without being terrified:)
Thinking about a seperate advanced driving course after aswell.

thanks TSC:)

Man, that restricts you from just about every car worth owning in the world! :o

ford mustang, dodge intrepid, Aston Martin DB9. As far as i am concerned those are the only cars worth owning:) And yes i am well aware of the fact the first two are american, and cry at the sight of a corner, but both are fun cars. As for the DB9, Its nice to dream. I will be getting the manual addition in the future, but for now i needed the license quickly. And Autos are becoming more and more common here.

Not sure what you mean by a truck. Scania drives my idea of a truck. With the cost of insurance, not to mention petrol at 85 pence per litre, a small car would be far more sensible.

Contact your local IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists), they'll be in the phone book. But I'd go for a manual bit of papier if I were you, automatics can be horribly expensive when they go wrong!

Just a bit of advice. Don't buy anything American. Not only are they hidiously big and ugly they're also built on the pretext that fuel costs

I wouldn't buy one, i want one but could never afford it.
Secondly woodlouse done a ton of research on american cars over here, once the insurance comes down a little they are no more expensive to run than your standard BMW or merc, and cheaper than these stupid 4x4's. To be honest with you, i have very little interest in the car i could own right now, i would like to start out with a focus but they are too expensive, great to drive as thats what i was learning in. Right now i am looking at a chrysler neon. can get a 1998 neon for less that

Planning to:) not worried about the manual side right now, I aim to have it done by the end of the year though. Just have more important things to get done right now.

yes my mum had one, and it almost killed her. No airbags. went head to head with a wall, 4 years ago and still suffering from the injuries now. was a nice car, but after seeing that, there is no way i could own one, plus would bring up bad memories for my mum.
