Belgian national broadcasting compagny:

Italian news-agency Ansa claims the Pope would be braindead at this point

http://194.244.5.200/ ( the link, but my Italian isn't good)

The Rai confirmed the closing of the Bronze gate as a sign of the passing away of the Pope

The vatican denies the Ansa message and that the Pope would be in a coma.

The best source I found at the moment.

Tried the vatican site, but it's unreachable... Seems a lot of people follow these last hours

Im not Catholic, or religeouse at all, but I do admire the pope. I saw a documentory a few years ago about him, appearently he lead a pretty interesting life before even becoming a priest.

An "in between bit"... ;)...!

...talking about dieing....
...as you do... ;)...!

...we all get old and die..
...given time.

Just got back from a family funeral this morning.
No daft hymns, no daft prayers, no sad pipe organ music, no wailing and flailing with a thorn bush... :'(...!

Just a good old sing-song to a CD of "Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf, in the church...
Then off to the Pub to celebrate...!
Just what the deceased wanted...!

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...and forget the "after-life" malarky...Trust me.... ;)...!

Paul....turns into compost when he pops his clogs... ;)... ;D..!

...back to the subject again... :)...!

As far as getting good for his money goes he has lived much  longer than others would have done in his situation.

I remember he got shot in the stomach some years ago.

Must be difficult to recover from something like that.

If I recall, it was almost 20 years ago that he got shot....completely unrelated to his current health issues.  As far as I know this is just his getting old.
Great edit, Bob.

Just sounds like his body's slowly shutting down...

BTW when Pope John Paul died in 1978, the first notification was by news agency 4 minutes after his death, so I imagine this will be how we hear this time... :(

news conferance soon. Likely to be on the hour. If your watching on tv watch for the two lights on the top floor to go out. once the annoucement has been made be it to vatican radio or another news source. Those will go out signifying his death. Thats what has been reported at least

Yeah I saw something about the attempted assasination on the net. He went and visited the guy not long afterwards.

So, what are the odds that the new Pope will be catholic? ;D ;D

I'm offering 1/10 bets. No bet under 100 pounds accepted. ;D

Well if it wasn't against my religious beliefs I'd throw all my money and assets on it.
A catholic is a protestant. You mean a Roman Catholic and there is a massive differance.

I've gotta admit, not being Catholic, I never really knew the intricacies of the Papal process.  Listening to reports all day about what they'll do and how they'll do it after the Pope's death is absolutely fascinating to me.  So much ceremony!

I think you're confused sonny. A catholic is a catholic. Never a protestant. Whether he be roman catholic or not your catholic is never a protestant.

Lets put it simply, a Catholic swears alligence to the pope. Protestants have denounced the pope. ;)
