Sources say that is was the pilot the used to fly the 6 jet in the show. He was on a 1 hour routine training mission when he was pulling a hard turn and dunked in. He was flying an unmarked blues jet. :(

To bad for the pilot, I doubt he will have his job back after he crashes a 40,000,000$ plane........... :P :-X

depends on the final outcome, planes dont just dunk into a river/lake/ the sea. If it was a clear mistake made by the pilot that shouldnt have been made then yes he will probably be grounded, and no doubt his paycheck for the next few years will be a little lighter:)

Yes, it could be a complete mechanical error.

the navy has plenty of old bugs...that's not the issue.  ;)

the T-Bird that crashed at MT in 2003 was caused by pilot error, but does anyone know what happened with that pilot? did he fly for the T's in 2004? i'm waiting for airsidetv's second Aviation Nation report. they asked why the Thunderbirds flew a five ship instead of the normal six ship shows in 2004. maybe that will answer my question...

Isn't that why all plane crashes occur, really, think about it.

The pilot who crashed was last years Narrator (#7) who does the media flights.  As with Blue Angel tradition, he then transitions to opposing solo, then lead.
The day is always better when you're flying upside down.

Nope. Controlled flight into terrain can occur when life exceeds gravity... :P

And gravity exceeds lift during every normal landing without necessarily resulting in a crash... :P

I've seen plenty of aircraft damaged while on the ground. Some were complete write-offs. ::)
