Just been running through my movie collection to add to my previous post.

Faves that I actually own include...
Dr. No
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Monte Python and the Holy Grail
Lawrence of Arabia
Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
Spaceballs
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (I have the other two but I didn't think they were as good as the first)
Star Wars: A New Hope
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

Master and Commander was excellent and so was Pirates of the Caribbean. Love stories aside, Titanic and Pearl Harbor are good too.

The Rig:

I thought about this for a while & of the 1,000s of films I must have seen in my time I couldn't pick one out as my all-time favourite. It would probably be one of the old classics that nobody here has ever heard of. I rarely watch TV or go to the cinema these days & can't remember the last film I saw. ???

top gun, seen it over 100 times now

I used to go to the pictures at least 3 times a week so I've seen a few. My Mum worked at the local fleapit & we had free tickets. I don't think I've watched any film anything like 100 times. :o

lol as some people might have guess i am not the most patient person alive and that goes for sitting through movies too. I try to watch at least one movie a week to help me learn patience, and more often than not i end up either throwing in top gun or a star trek movie.

An unusual film to pick, but one of my favourites is "FARGO" by the Coen Brothers.
Starring Francis Mc Dormand, with Steve Buscemi, Peter Stormare and William H Macey.

Amazing direction and photography... ;)...!

All the LOTR movies, Pirates of the Carribbean(good movie, also has a kick-a$$ soundtrack), Hidalgo and Space Cowboys.  I haven't seen very many movies though, so these are probably over half the movies i've seen.

I would probably like this.....  I think the most unlikely film can be very good if it has good direction and photography (especially if augmented by good writing and acting ;)).

Another unusual film:

I'm not one for camp comedies or vampire movies or Roman Polanski, but his The Fearless Vampire Killers a.k.a. Dance of the Vampires was a hoot.  His beautiful wife to be, Sharon Tate, was in it.  Two years later, while Polanski was in London working on a script, Sharon, eight months pregnant, and several of their friends were butchered by Charles Manson and his crew.

Has anybody seen this film?

Cheers :) :),

Doug

Hi Doug...!
FARGO....If you spot it in your local video hire shop, give it a try....(The Coen Brothers also did "Raising Arizona", another fantastic film from the highly talented brothers)..... ;)...!

Also, over here in Europe, we occasionally get on the tele', old black and white films made by European film makers, using sub-titles.
Highly gripping, highly atmospheric, master-pieces, as black and white films always are... 8)...!
A pleasant change from Hollywood..errrr....errrr....films... ;)....LOL...!

Cheers Doug... ;D...!

Paul....don't forget FARGO.... ;).... ;)... ;)...LOL...!

Hi, Paul!
Thanks for the tips.

...Bruce Dern.... ;D...!
Now there's a name that reminds me of another one of my favourite films...
Bruce Dern in his car being chased by this REALLY BIG LORRY...!
A fantastic, gripping film, with amazing photography...
...shame I can't remember the flippin' name...help... :-[...!

I'm afraid I'm no help here, Paul....  He made over 50 movies....  Could it have been The Driver (1978 ) ???

Do you remember his movie Silent Running(1971), the Sci Fi flick with the robots Hughie, Dewey, and Louie :D?

Another favorite of ours (not a Dern [or gosh-dang, etc. ;D] movie) is Scarecrow, a real sleeper with Gene Hackman and Al Pacino.  I think Hackman's stripping scene is one of the best from Tinseltown.

Cheers ;)
