I'm inclined to beleive that in this world of low-cost carriers, the 7E7 will do better.

However I think the major airlines(BA, AA, AF, QANTAS, UNITED) will go for the A380.

I don't know.  I like Airbuses and Boeings, I mean, hell, they are all airplanes! ;D

Ya, what flys flys. As long as safe and reasonable! I think some group should make a 7E7 payware, or freeware, all the better.  ;D

a freeware 7E7 is being made if i can find the link i will post it.
P40 i wouldnt worry about the design side of it for the gear and engines, both will be modified where possible from the 777 which again is very efficient.
I dont want Airbus to go out of business, like i said in my original post and like Hagar said, competition is good for everyone, it forces manufacturers to keep evolving which is then passed onto the customer and passengers. The A380 is what you would call a market test, there are alot of optional orders from customers and if it doesnt perform well for airlines we could see alot of cancellations. However if it is a sucess then we will likely see the 747 stretch which will actually be brought into a market which isnt covered and is wanted, between the 777 and the A380.
Time will tell.
Basically, look for the airlines to replace their older A340 and 747's with the A380, and look for them to replace their older A330's. A321's 757's 767 and perhaps by that time older 777's(7E7 will be much cheaper option) with the 7E7

I totally agree with Woody, the 7E7 is ugly as hell.

As for great aicraft manufacturers: SAAB and Fairchild Dornier. No long range "buses", but awesomely looking short/medium range airliners.  8)

First of all: in my eyes the 7E7 is the most beutiful aircraft Boeing has designed. I have seen first-hand Airbus's "Boeing bashing" and it seems rather desperate. The 7E7 is a marvel of engineering in all aspects. Also, I don't like the looks of the A380 and I hope it does not replace the 747. I have never liked most Airbus aircraft and only like the A330 out of all of their planes (I like winglets ;D).

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

I'm sure that Boeing has retaliated or maybe they started it. ::)

I find all these personal insults & criticism distasteful. Politicians are also at it these days. They behave worse than children. This seems to be a modern advertising trend. I believe it was actually illegal not so many years ago.

There's no reason that both projects cannot succeed. What you or I think of the aircraft or how beautiful they might be is immaterial. The airlines & travelling public will determine whether either or both succeed or fail. The 380 will also need the cooperation of the various airport authorities & possibly governments. Some airports might not wish to update their facilities to cope with it or in some cases this might not be possible. There might also be political motives involved. Those in power have their own loyalties. ::)

Thanks Ozzy. Not too many people appreciate my sense of humour. It's not so much what I say, more what I leave out. You have to read between the lines. ;D

This is not a valid excuse. Why would you deserve different treatment to everyone else? :P ;) 8)
