& remember - aircraft manufacturers like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc, are businesses & if other countries didn't buy their products they probably wouldn't exist....

Out of curiosity, does the US government allow these companies to sell military aircrafts to countries that are not allied or friends with the US?

Officially not.

F-14's in Iran are pre-1979 ones. probably refitted with MiG-25 radars and other russian and reverse-engineered stuff now. How they get the engines is another story, but at least 50% is flyable.

Loads of hercs, everywhere.

Some countries did get US machines, somehow choose the other side and end up with a nice mixture.

US export is based on human rights records, in combination with attitude towards the US. that's why indonesia goes for flankers.

Further: the more advanced planes are more expensive, some guys can't pay for the top stuff but can afford the middle-rated ones. then they go shopping for cheap deals on the advanced stuff (Brasil)
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

Besides, everyone that has ever seen Top Gun KNOWS the Russians used to use T-38's as interceptors back in the '80s.  Sheesh!  ::)  ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The bottom line is MONEY $$$. We may have some sense of loyalty to our country, but our industries will sell anything to anyone if the price is right. Remember the Japanese ZEROs? It was designed in the US. Sad, isnt it?

The Zero was NOT designed in the US.  It was designed Jiro Horikoshi in 1937.  He was Mistubishi's chief designer.  It first flew in 1939, and it's first combat was in 1940... ::)

Let's just get this straight. I don't know where you got this idea but the Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" was designed & built in Japan to an Imperial Navy specification. It was powered by a Japanese engine. It came as a great shock to Allied pilots when they first encountered it.

This was due to the WWI treaty restrictions on military aircraft development. You soon made up for it. ;)

In response to the rest of you: Bite me.  I was venting after spending about half the day trying to find WORKING aircraft from my own damm country in my own damm livery.

My, you do seem to have an attitude problem. :o ::)

In response to Hyvry1_Delta:  I would like to be able to do my own skins, believe me I would.  But being a broke dual bachelors aviation college student who spends about $18,000+ a year on school, simply going out and buying $2,000 G-Max, just for skinning aircraft, isn't an option, that kind of money will buy me about 15 real hours.

Gmax happens to be free but you don't need it.
If you visit the Aircraft Repainting forum you will find that it won't cost you a penny to repaint aircraft textures. This depends entirely on your own skill & experience.

PS. If you lighten up a little & use a different approach you will find that people here will be only too willing to help you. ;)

Sorry Hagar, I am used to games with no support communities to speak of, and who don't care about the actual players or anyone else (So you don't need to worry what anyone thinks of you). :-X

And not G-max, but whatever program it is that you need from Discretee to build models. :P

Also, if you paint over the index points for the model skin in a painting utillity, won't the 2004 not know how to use the skin and you end up with a blank model?
