That is so true!
I have seen a couple of people, that have thier PPL and allot of money! They went out and purchased a warbird "because they could" and with very little knowledge and experiance in the plane I have witnessed some stupid moves on thier part!
So far close calls but stupid!
If I had the money too purchase one I would also be sure I understood how the plane reacts to certain manuvers! I wouldn't think to myself "Hey I saw this bird do this in a movie" and then try it like the above mentioned!
That is where allot of credit to the "Aces" from war needs to go, allot of these men took on a bird not knowing it's exact abilities and had too learn the hard way, mostly because of a combat situation.
But needless to say you need too know what your doing, what the airplane can and cannot do and have RESPECT! for the plane and most importantly other people around you!
As far as cost, it is unreal the price to keep up a pristine Warbird! Like Hagar said parts, etc. are hard too come by and when you do you have too be willing to pay the price!
And once again there is the insurance! Which cost a arm and a leg ! Which makes it even more expensive to fly these great creatures!! (not to mention how hard it is to fly with only one arm and leg :) )

I have my own little Mecca just to the North of me at Osh Kosh.  We're going there next week for my birthday!  Also, I have told Tammy we're GOING to the EAA airventure even if we have to camp on the ground.  We are moving back to Florida next year and this will probably be my last chance to see it.  It's only one of the biggest fly-ins in the whole world and it's only about 5 hours away... :)
