It's tragic whenever a human life is lost, especially when it's by accident and so suddenly.  :'(

But I can't help express the added sadness at the loss of such a fine old plane, that could well have been responsible for seeing so many young men safely home during a very violent and dangerous time.

Sometimes I feel they should both go to the same 'place'.  :(

I cried because I had no shoes - until I saw a man who had no feet.

It's very sad but these things happen. Display flying will always involve some risk, especially in vintage types. The pilots & anyone involved with warbirds are perfectly well aware of this & accept it as part of the job.

I thinks it's too easy to become over-sentimental about the actual aircraft. No matter how rare a plane might be, it's a piece of machinery which can be rebuilt if the desire & finances are available. This cannot be said for human life. ::)
