CHOMP_ROCK. You're quite entitled to rant about anything you like. Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about. If someone wishes to eat vegetables or meat it's their choice. Like Will, I'm happy as long as nobody tries to dictate what I eat. I like meat but have no desire to go out & kill anything to get it. If I had to do this it would probably turn me into a vegetarian overnight. A properly balanced vegetarian diet should cause no harm whatsoever, in fact quite the reverse. ::)

I think CHOMP_ROCK's rant has to do with the ones who are really obeseesive about it. I knew another girl who was a vegi. The class was doing a project in Canadian History where we were to recreate a traditional French Canadian stew. She was quite upset that the stew was going to contain meat. One kid pipes up and says quite sarcastically "If it bothers you that much, then just pick the meat out." We all had a good laugh but that's not the point I'm trying to make. She claimed she was a vegi for because it was helthier. Now get this, she smoked and wore a lot of that aerosol hairspray. I used to sit behind her and she always smelt like a hair salon had caught fire.  ;D

The point here is, you can believe what ever you wish, just don't force your beliefs on others. They say you should never talk about politics and religion in open company but perhaps it would make sense to expand this rule to include any controversial beliefs. There is a time and place to discus these things. Talk about it in close company, don't parade it down the streets.

Reasonable suggestion Orenda but who gets to decide what is controversial?  I am quite open minded but others tend to be more narrow in their beliefs.  If I made the decision I'd allow pretty much anything but some might suggest that any reference to, say, the middle east is too controversial.

I'm not attacking you, I just feel that self censorship is the best way forward.  After all it is often the ranter that looks more foolish than those he attacks.

In addition I cannot conceive of how it is possible to live without bacon and steak.

It's not that hard, once you have been to a slaughterhouse and seen cattle either hit in the head with a hammer or shot with a small caliber handgun, the sight of steak brings on a different set of memories.

'Tis the problem.  I could make freinds with a KKK member if he didn't force his beliefs upon me, you might even learn a thing or two from him.  This girl at my school goes around saying "Meat is murder!".  Fortunately the generals response is "shut up".  Go ahead and eat your salad, but don't bother me with my hamburger. ;D I love the Luftwaffe circa World War II, but I don't walk around saying "sieg heil!", although my friends do accuse me of such. ::) As said previously, we all need to learn one concept (which happens to be American, or at least it was originally): All may have the right to do as they wish, so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others.

Anyway, back to the topic, I see the fact that evolution, the Lord, Allah; whatever; designed us in such a way that we could eat meat and plants.  A dragonfly eats its intended diet, why can't we.  As with all rules, there is no %100.  Those with dietary concerns are the exception here.

There is no way I could live without meat! ;D

And the slaughterhouse did not disturb me I still eat steak and red meat all of the time without feeling guilty. As for Andrew I feel bad for him if he Can't eat meat. I'm NOT forcing my opinions on anyone I

I really regret offending anyone and to say the least I'm actually very sorry for doing so but I cannot help but take advantage of this Country's freedoms. I could have been shot for saying a thing like that where I came from. As a matter of fact almost everyone there carries a gun. I carried a .44 from the time I was 8. can anyone guess where I'm from?

Andrew, you have 87 messages?  Geez, I get tired of looking at them after 10or 15...

BTW, just to add to this, I tried a Buffalo steak this week for the first time.  Not too bad, but not much different than beef.  Yummy though...  ;D
