Kids today think that they're adults and know everything that they need to know. I know that I did at that age!

Back about 15 years ago when the Mrs. and I were raising 4 teenagers I saw a bumper sticker that I think is a classic.

It said "Hire teenagers while they still know everything!"

Steve, I'm glad to hear she's back home safe and sound.

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

I'm extremely glad that all my five children are now "grown up", aged 40 to 60...

As a Parent, I wouldn't want to go through all those "Teen-age" stress times again!

Glad all is OK now, Steve.

Paul,
I had to laugh at your "Teen-age" stress times comment. We raised 5 also and as we say in American baseball we're now into "extra innings."
We've been raising our granddaughter (for reasons I won't go into here) since she was 3 1/2 months old. She is now 14 but the funny thing is it's easier this time around because we already know what's coming down the pike long before it happens. She sometimes wonders why we laugh at some of the things she says or does and just shake our heads at some of her "serious" dilemmas. It's really more enjoyable this time because we don't have to work so hard at figuring out how to handle it all. On top of that she's a real good kid. Still into that "British" thing though. Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who seem to be my biggest competition right now with Loki not far behind. :( :) :)

The wonderful thing about being a Granddad and Great-Granddad, is that you can hand them all back to their Parents at the end of the day!... ...!

I had forgotten about how stubborn teenagers can be. While growing up with my sister in her teens, she would shout her constitutional rights at my mother. As if that was going to help her case. I can still see mother putting her hands on her hips and saying "You forgot your most important right.. you have the right to remain silent"

I'm glad to hear she's back, Steve. My parents went through this with my sister who, unfortunately, started younger and got worse. We were very close when we were young. By the time she entered her teens there was a progressive personality change; you'd never know we were from the same family and she severed communication with me for extended periods of time (thought she was dead for nearly a decade).
I hope all is set right so your niece doesn't continue such endeavors...

Best wishes,
H

Really scares all involved...hopefully it was just a runaway...to many sicko's in the world.

Good to see though she is back home and not a statistic.
