My thoughts exactly. An unfortunate choice of words. If said 'pillock' spots this topic, which I'm sure he has, it will convince him that he is right.

No offense but, in the words of The Terminator, "STOP WHINNING!" So you screenshot wasn't liked big deal. I have to admit my first one was pretty ugly now that i look back at it. The opinons of people are soo subjective and unrealiable that a small detail can change everything.

p.s. the vid has gotten only 654 hits and i bet most are from here, so i wouldn't be worried about anyone being afraid now to join the forum...

This horse is definitely laying on its side, if not completely dead, but...

Hagar has a point about making the guy feel justified in his own mind... we all do generally pride ourselves here on our forebearance, and the general reaction here has been unkind.
But I still stand by my reaction- I think he is being extremely silly, if that's not too strong a word. And I say it in defense of these forums and all of us regulars here, because his rant is itself an attack, a public smearing of this site that is unwarranted. The fact that some people here get a little clique-ish and are less than diplomatic at times doesn't mean people who like to share their screenshots  should avoid posting here.

If you expose your precious creations to public scrutiny, you have to be prepared to get some criticism... some thoughtful, some dismissive. At his age, I think he should realize that. A true artist creates to please himself.

I was speaking in terms of a screenshot thread title post, not this one or anything like it. Since the issue the utube person brought forth about screenshots and how they are critiqued based on the 'club', which he is right, my comment in its entirety was simply asking people to read what someone may be trying to convey instead of assume they need lessons in screenshot development..,  or even want them

Understood

Unfortunately text posts can be read many ways and out of context if the contents come without a clarified perspective which may inadvertently undermine or skew meaning and purpose.

This is especially true with international and age diverse forums where cultural and/or age difference in written communication styles will always be present.

The universal code of common courtesy is a much better way to introduce or convey critique because it allows for understanding and opportunity to clarify without animosity creeping into a conversation and even if it does, because everyone involved has and continues to display that type of common respect, what is said is heard even if it may not agreed with.

And I do agree that ago old tradition is a rare commodity in this day and age, especially on a message board where the persona can get away with things behind a shield of anonymity they could not in a face to face or public encounter.

Good. I think this demonstrates how easily comments can be misinterpreted. Sorry if I caused you any embarrassment.

So many people seem so aggressive these days. Some of our younger members might scoff & call me a silly old fool. That never bothered me & I find a little old-fashioned courtesy makes life much more pleasant. That's the way I was brought up, the way I brought my daughter up & the way she is now bringing my little granddaughter up. This is enough to convince me that I got it right. 8-)
