We have some things in common Doug.

This is the only forum I am a member of.
Where as you moved to the city and left the home to the kids,I bought the house I grew up in,in the city and my parents moved out to the country.
I've run all the flight sims up to my current FSX.
Pete's the man! Him and the mods have made this place my home away from home. I'm here daily and use this site way more than Facebook. Here you know who your friends are even if you have never met them in person. Facebook to me is a popularity contest.

Anyway,Great post,well said,and I too am thinking of purchasing a membership.

Best

Mike

Thanks scalper_new... :)

Did you know that Threshold Aviation has a flight simulator?

Not sure if it is motion or not.

That is the store on the north side of Toronto Airport.

http://www.thresholdaviation.com/

They mentioned to me about a company just north of Toronto that customize flight simulators for the home and public.

I will give them a call myself after I get FSX up and running next week.
Home field is too soft right now along with a few bugsmasher fields we frequent so we are putting in the docks for the boat and float aircraft this week.

Think I am getting too old for this and should have a white hard hat and a nice soft lawn chair... ;D

Thanks Mike.... :)

We miss the country life but this is a small city with lots to do.
It is a new Condo with underground parking and full time security.  We are right on a bay and river.

Only about a hour drive north along the river to several bugsmasher fields and the old homestead.

Doug, I hope that one day I can sit down and sup a few beers with you and tell war stories till the wee hours when we're exhausted from laughing ;)
I've been lucky to spend time with a number of the guys here and I'm sure Doug (Hagar) has nearly recovered from the horror of me pole dancing on the Picadilly Line ;D ;D ;D
We've not had a post-Xmas aviation museum get together for a couple of years. Maybe we'll organise a summer one this year, would you care to join us?

Hi Mark... :)

Would love to sit down with a bunch of Simviation Members for a wobbly pop or two.

That would just be like going to the bugsmasher field for me and listening to those Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers out tell me in Tall Tales... :o     ;D

This summer is spoken for but looking forward to getting across the pond next year.

I shall try to post you folks something a little more detailed this coming Fall and check out the best time to come.

Thanks Mark... ;)

Scalper

The last time I was there they were using that room for Flight Attendant Training and I could not get in.

The room is off to the left of the store, large foyer and I believe the room is behind or beside the store.

I think the one owner told me he flew for Jazz...don't quote me as can't quite remember... ;D

Have heard of Zorro's, is it on the airport strip going back towards the 401 entrance and Aviation World from Threshold Aviation?

Hey Doug, your topic just brought me back quite a lot of memories.
My interest in simulators started a bit earlier than you though, but at the beginning it was quite... imprecise. A part of me was enjoying civilian flight sims (back in time, it was still FS5), another part was amazed by the military sim EF2000.

Then came CFS1, and suddenly I learned that one could download and add planes to the sim ! That was amazing for me, but having no internet connection at home, I was downloading from the computers of the university  ;D That was in 1997 or 1998... at that time, for me, the forums were still a TOTALLY unknown thing. However, for my CFS1 and FS98, two websites were clearly the main sources of addons for my sims:
- Keith Virtual Helipad
- Simviation
I was unaware that Simv had a forum at that time. In fact, the very first time I registered on a forum was somewhere in 2002 or 2003, on a french forum, because of another simulator called Falcon4.... then I learned that forums can be cool, and I went ahead some years later to register on SimV. I was already using FS9 at that time... it was on the 5th of October 2005, from what I can see in the registration email :D
