Where's Flying Trucker?

Just realized that a larger portion of the ebb and flow from Ontario has been missing - last post April 19.

I asked where he was a week ago and never got a response. Don't remember what thread it was in. Hope he is ok.

Maybe there was a problem with his internet service. He does live in a remote area and it always seems to take longer to fix those kind of problems in remote areas.

I noticed that Doug did the same thing last summer. He didn't post much all summer and when the weather turned for the worse he was back on the forum. He did mention moving to Trenton sometime this year, so hopefully he is fine and just busy.

Maybe he's flying. If so, can't blame him.

Good afternoon all.... :)

We arrived home last evening after a lengthy unplanned trip to the north part of our province.

I did not get on this electronic gizmo to see what you lot were all up to until just a few minutes ago.

I see you are all up to no good.... ;D....LOL

Well where do I start....???????????

-went just past Red Lake Ontario, Canada as an elderly relative on the old girl's side of the family had been taken to the hospital and was not expected to make it

-she was in her sixties and a heavy smoker most of her adult life...yes cancer

-I tried to get the C172 out but the strip was too soft and I noticed there was about four (4) inches of water on it, the ground was saturated

-we had to take one of the Land Rovers and glad we did...yes we ran into snow and several snow/ice storms on the way up

-we left here the temperature was in the teens and this morning it is minus four "C"

-our relative suffered for ten days while we were there before passing on...the funeral was several days later

-it was a hard ten days.... :'(    :-X

-enroute home we spent several days in North Bay Ontario to see some relatives, we promised to do that at the funeral

-our family that stayed here left early this morning and now we have to get ready to go out for Mothers Day...egads... ::)

-I have not checked the forums too much but will do that tonight as I hope to see some great pictures

-I do notice that this electronic gizmo does not show the typed words as dark and clear as it used to so I wonder what happened there when we were gone?
The typing looks like an old typwriter ribbon which needed to be replaced...it was okay when I left... ::)

You know they say "A change is as good as a rest" but gosh darn it feels good to be home.... :)    ;)

Thanks for thinking about me while we were gone, did not find a computer to use to post while I was away and there was not a lot of time to spare for ourselves.

Be sure of this in the future:
-I shall give you all two days notice before buying the farm
-I shall give you all two days notice before being abducted by aliens
-will try to give several hours notice before being sent to stand in the corner of the barn for any lenght of time...hmmm....think that is coming up shortly as have not had time to buy a Mother's Day Card...oops...big oops... :-X

Oh did see a new welcome to Simviation screen...looks good...well done... ;)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Welcome back Doug. Sorry for your loss.

Do you have/know about MoCat's Land's End series?

Doug - wish your trip could have been for a happier reason.  Good to have you back.  Larry has been producing some wonderful screenies - even recognize the aircraft type on a few  :).

Goodly morning all... :)

Thanks fellows...needed a good laugh this morning.... :)

Will take a look at the rest of the Forum later as have to go into the village for a bit, not even time to stop at the bugsmasher field either today.

If anyone has any ideas why the print/typing looks like a well used old typwriter ribbon when I type a reply or message please let me know here.

I asked a son who was here while we were away and he used the computer every day to check his messages.

He told me a "Nividea" upgrade came through on "Windows Update" so he hit the download button. The typing has looked like this ever since.  Not being his computer he did not want to mess with it.

I am not sure what to look at in the control panel to see if I can rectify this problem.

Any help would be most appreciated.   :)

Doug,

Welcome back.... we were getting a tad worried.

And condolences.  Sometimes life is not easy and doesn't seem fair.

best,
