Is this sick?

Postby Ijineda » Sun Oct 01, 2006 11:44 am

As you certainly know a GOL 738 crashed in Brazil a few days ago. I found this in Avsim, "Yesterdays hot files".

this cant be no coincidence. Do people really "replay" the crash?  I think thats rather sick.

If that's what they're downloading it for, then there is something wrong with that. :-/

Consider that maybe it's not to replay the crash, but to see up close what the plane looked like, and maybe even to "complete" the flight.

I do know that from magazines (notably Air International, which carries a listing of aircraft accidents), I've looked up the airplane in question in airliners.net, if only to see what it looked like.

For example, although it wasn't written off in an accident, I remember clearly Air France's Caravelle F-BJTA, which flew Air France's Caribbean routes - Martinque, San Juan, Haiti, because at the time, the main approach to San Juan was right over my high school.  Sadly, F-BJTA went on to the Far East and ended its days in the scrap heap in Thailand...  not an accident, but...

I don't know why you "don't" see that as sick as many lives were lost in that flight. Not just adults, but also children as well [if any] were lost on that day. So to recreate that crash in a simulator is without a doubt very sick.

Ever looked up the reg on the Saha 707 in one of my recent screenshot posts... that one crashed too (3 people drowned in a river because they couldnt swim and didnt wait for the rescue team to arrive) .

As long as you don't post the affected plane in an dishonorable sitution there is no problem IMHO.

I think it's sick that you immediately accuse these people of recreating the crash.
After I heard about the crash, I did what Felix described.
Is that morbid? Or do I just want to get a better understanding of this tragedy?

And maybe it is just a coincidence.
Looking at the list, five other files had sixty one downloads aswell.
I guess people are using them to recreate crashes aswell, eh?

Or perhaps 'GOL' hadn't had much publicity before this, and now people wanted one of their liveries?

And even if a few of them did want to replay the crash themselves, what's it to us? Let them do as they please, it's none of our business.

Yawn, another holier than thou thread. Sorry, but I do get fed up with these thread types. Is there a competition for who can find the link to an accident that can be labelled sick and un-simv at the same time putting down another website the fastest? People died, that is the only thing of importance. Also why does everyone have this obsession with others recreating a flight? A 737 poking out of the ground like a dart in a dart board is hardly a recreation with FS crash graphics.

There are non-sick reasons to recreate crashes. Maybe someone hears about a crash and wonders how an aircraft gets into that situation, so they download the plane and try to recreat the sequence of events that leads to the crash. That said, I don't see why you would need the exact same livery of the accident airplane, as long as it's the same type, then you are good to go.

Did I do that? read first, then think, my boy.

Please don't ever refer to someone on this forum as "my boy" or similar.  It is extremely demeaning and condescending, especially considering Matt's profile says he's 38.  I remember a member here referred to me in such a manner not too long ago when he was badly losing an argument-had he been standing in front of me, I would have hit him.  And I'm not an excitable guy.  Also, your assertion that there can be no coincidence is absoultely wrong.  It is most likely there is no coincidence, but there is no way to know.

That being said, I believe the downloading is a personal matter and there's no reason to give any mind to it.  I also don't believe it's sick to recreate the crash, but that's besides the point.

Does anybody actually know the download figures for that texture before the crash?? How do they compare to the figures in the 24hrs after the crash? That information could be quite helpful before judging people.

Not pointing fingers here either way - just curious to know what the differences were.

Cheers,

TSC.

Well then maybe you shouldn't word it in such a manner.

You dont seem to get it. THIS livery is downloaded RIGHT AFTER the crash, so this can be NO coincidence. and not the repaint is sick, but recreating a crash with it. especially when its on the news at this time.

See what I mean.
To me, this statement of yours is loaded with paranoia.
