My grandfather lives under the pattern of a small airport, and one day an aircraft somehow leaked some oil while in the pattern. Guess where it landed. It landed in the middle of his nice porch

Things like this happen all the time, no matter where you are on this planet. We get hail the size of base balls over here in Arkansas and nobody here has put blame on anybody [even when their windshields are cracked].

As for the lady's misfortune, this is all I have to say: Tough luck. Put up with it.

From the sound of it, this is not a weather related incident.  For the most part, at least.  Pesonally, I hope nothing happens.  These angry, royal types who think everyone must answer to them, or get sued.  Let them deal with it for once!  They hate that! ;D

Funny how she says that "someone has to pay for this".  Maybe she should take up a complaint against mother nature for making the wind blow that day in a way that made it fall on her car, or maybe because it wasn't warm enough to melt the ice, or maybe because there wasn't an earthquake that day to move her car out of the way of freak ice chunks.  Sorry, I'm just a little sick of the whole "me-me-me, why should I have to do anything" mentality people seem to have (you know, the people who sue McDonald's because their coffee is hot or the food made them fat (sorry to sidetrack the thread :P)).  ;)

Has this women ever heard of...insurence ::)  Or is vehical insurence not a requirement in the UK ???

If it was proven a freak weather incident...ide be moving from that particular area ::)

And if the car was parked outside the house....looks like a nice sunny day, how did she know that chunk of ice had hit her car...was she so bored that she just sat and watched the parked car all day ???  If they knew the exact flight that was overhead at the time this happened then someone witnessed it ::)  I mean...you cant just randomly walk out to find this and know exactly what time it occured at :P

It shouldn't be too hard with a few tests to find out if it was from an aircraft.

Maybe so but proving which aircraft is a different matter. I don't think she stands a chance.

I agree, which really would then leave open the airport or caa to possible targets.

The problem is that Ice has a very limited lifespan in any temperature above freezing. :P

obviously. Thus you put it in the freezer for safe keeping. I am assuming that the photo was either done that way or it was a personal photo done right after the incident.
