need help identifying a motorcycle

Postby Anti-Societys Snake » Fri Apr 29, 2005 6:24 pm

I need to know what type of bike I have, it's missing the gas tank. I haven't had a chance to look at it much. it's a 1970's american honda 350 street bike. any help?

~Snake

p.s I may get a picture soon, fell free to ask question I haven't answered in this post.

Have you tried a search using the serial number on the engine? Also you may find info in the serial number it'self. Often they would do something like this: CB350-556783. That would be a Honda CB 350. Also if you can snap a pic and post that someone may be able to help. I'm most experienced in dirt bikes but I've had a couple Honda 350s.

I think a picture would deffinately help.  I'm no motorcycle expert (at all), but I think that would be really useful.

Judging from your description (Driveshaft, windshield, instrumentpanel like a car) it's a Honda Goldwing. Or maybe the earlier version, the Silverwing. But they have much bigger engines than 350cc. So a picture will absolutely help.

Crash ;)

well, it sure as hell isn't a anything wing. from what I can tell, it should look like this: (I'm just guessing, the instrument panel is about right.) http://powersports.honda.com/the_story/ ... ne+Archive

And the speedometer reading (On the bike I've got) is upto 145. But the Bike I just showed you is a v-twin and 500cc, mine is not vtwin, and is 350cc.

You didn't say which model it was. but the page opened up at the Honda CX 500 Turbo.
500cc, across the frame, push-rod, Vee-twin.
Over here in England it was un-affectionally called the "Plastic Maggot", very popular with Dispatch Riders, but few else!
Reasonably reliable when new, but costly if there are problems with the alternator, or clutch!

The "Turbo" version was avoided at all cost, both by the riders....AND...the insurance companies...!!!

Any machine with the word "Turbo" is generally bad news, even by the Car Brigade...LOL...!

Still...!
If it was "FREE", then its something to sit on and pretend you are flying down Route 66 at 150 MPH... 8)...!
Dream-on...!
LOL...!

Cheers...!

well, the turbo is what I have, I've just been reasured.

Pretty good condition, needs alot of cosmetic work, and clutch and alternater work, as fozzah said. once I get it fixed up, I can sell it for quite a large sum of money. like this fellow is.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... eName=WDVW and since it is such a rare bike, I could sell it for salvage for a nice bank roll still.

I do have to admit, it looks like pile of  shit. but IT'S WORTH SOME MONEY!

What the chap didn't mention is the way the CX eats engines in the same way Oliver Reed used to sink beers ;D
