Aviation Schools

Okay so now im finally a senior making my choices on what im going to do after high school. I know for sure that I want to be a pilot and have looked at numerous flight schools visited both ERAU campuses and also ASU. Ended up applying to 7 university's....Western Michigan, Rocky Mountain College, North Dakota, Southern Illinois, ERAU, ASU, and Middle Tennessee State.

I've looked at some backup options including ATP with there new degree program and tried looking at some Community Colleges with flight programs that are transferable to a 4 year because I'd like to get a college degree. The CC's I've looked into seem to have flight programs that don't really look very active, small fleets, no flying pretty much which scares be about that option besides Broward College with the Aerosim Flight Academy.

Has anyone looked into that or can help me with some of my backup options as of right now but I'm done with my applications to 4 year University's just looking for some insight on backup options. I know for sure I will be going to a college next year so no joining the military options or go fly at my local airport either im looking for education with aviation. My plan is to get my degree in Aeronatical Science. It seems like Broward College is the only CC that has everything organized to insure that I'll get all my flying and a good amount of hours (because they are with Aerosim Flight Academy) rather than some of the other CC's I've seen out there that look like it wouldn't be a good option to attend. Some schools only had classes on weekends which wouldn't help with me leaving home.

Just trying to get all the options out on the table before I go ahead and pick because the cost with be very expensive wherever I go and I wanted to have some backup plans if I didn't plan on going to a 4 year. Also I'd have to check that Broward College has transferable credits to schools such as ERAU.

I know nothing about universities for studying aviation (except for perhaps aviation management, or engineering) but I do recall seeing something a few months back...

As part of the British Airways training scheme you can attend a choice of several flying schools. One is the Oxford Aviation Academy, but they do their fair weather training in Arizona. I believe it is the Oxford Airline Training Center, at Phoenix's Goodyear airport.


It just seemed like a closer option than Illinois/Michigan, and they must have a pretty good reputation!

One that you might add to your list is Kansas State University. By all accounts they have a very good program for pilot training and aviation related degrees.

The trade school that I went to was working on starting a partnership with them so that a student could get their A&P training at AIM (where I went) and then transfer their credits toward a degree and finish the rest of the required classes at K State. Don't know if they ever got it off the ground.

I had just looked at Kent State today and filled out an application. They seem to have a pretty good acceptance rate so it doesn't look terribly hard to get into but I had troubles getting more information about there aviation program on there website.  :-/ Messages Jordan Skok on Facebook though because he just started attending Kent State this year. Rarely see him on the forums though.
