I treat everything I read on t'Internet with suspicion these days. The photos are impressive enough without inventing a story to go with them. I can't think what satisfaction people get out of circulating these things.
It isn't the first time I've been sent errant info with e-mailed pxs; we can usually count on Hagar to search things out for us, something I currently have very little time to do. The original "story" makes me giggle.
I cross the Missouri River twice a day five times a week (sometimes six or seven!), the Mississippi a few times a month (via bridge and/or ferry), and the Illinois too, all within a few miles of their confluences which is not all that too far to the north of the St. Louis area.
Except in heavy fog, I have ALWAYS been able to see the other side(s).![]()
