Get out of jury duty?

Hi all, thanks for the replies. ;D

Honestly, I just thought that this would make for funny conversation. It's true, I don't want to do it, but like Trucker said it is my civic duty.

He said it's not your civic duty, and I agree... but I also agree with his assertion that it might be enlightening.

Doug actually said "is it not" your civic duty. The positioning of two little words makes a big difference.

The toe-rag criminals would have to watch out if I & other grey-haired old gits were on the jury. Off with their heads! >:(

That's probably why they do not Hagar. It would be a good idea that they don't call me too, guilty until proven innocent......... ;D ;D

However, here is a question, if lying to a court is perjury, then is a person who has been found guilty by a jury should also additionally charged with perjury. By definition of a not guilty plea they have lied in court about whether they committed a crime?

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Now that is interesting. Very good question.

Well, I ended up not being selected. out of the 65 or so people that were called up for jury duty today they randomly picked 50 to be interviewed as perspective jurors. I was not among those 50 people.

Now here's a weird coincidence. One of my co-workers was also summoned today for jury duty. It's especially weird because the company that I work for only employs about 15 people in a city of 30,000. He was one of the 50 people that were chosen and I don't know yet if he ended up on the jury or not, but I did make faces at him as they walked all of the perspective jurors away to the court room. :P

Wouldn't that be two charges causing the defence to plea bargain to save the state money and time. Guilty to perjury and the other charge will be dropped. If you are are going to commit an offence in this day and age make sure you get multiple charges! I am hoping for the day the general public becomes the jury via internet poll.. Multiple choice.   :o

I'm with Hagar in that it's too bad there's not a system whereby those who really would like to serve could volunteer and take the load off those who find it inconvenient for whatever reason.

You know, I have always wanted to get jury duty, just once in my life.  For some reason, I never have...

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
