The problem with all opinion polls is that the result depends on the way the question is worded & the people taking part. Like the polls on this forum you have to pick one answer from a list or choose "None of the above". This very often gives bizarre results.

With something other than a multiple choice question. The only good thing they did was provide the "None of the above" choice. The older I've gotten, the more frustrated I've become with mutilple choice questions not allowing me to provide a proper answer, something evidently beyond the question-maker's comprehension.

I would have added other options, besides businesses. I would list some, but they would head in the direction of politics.

But I agree with H, at least they added a "none of the above" option. A majority of these style polls never have an option that I would choose.

It doesn't surprise me that WalMart won out given the choices. Everyone knows what WalMart is.

The concept isn't anything new. Walmart is just Kmart, plus a grocery store. I have to admit that I like the "one-stop-shopping".

They were asking which institution is most american.  The best way to conduct a public poll is for people to actually write-in their opinions.

One difference however is that the vast majority of the merchandise at Walmarts comes from China.

The last time I was in a "Wall"mart I had a hard time finding my way out. The shelves are so high, you can't see a horizon line. I ended up asking a 38D in the brassiere section for directions to the tills. I like like the smaller stores!
