Gotta be real careful what ya say and how ya say it.  Somehow, my very short and clearly stated e-mailed question, "Can I do so-and-so?" was misunderstood and read as a "I want to do so-and-so, and a sum of money was tranferred without my specific authorization.  Fortunately, it was only $200.00, but there's a big principle and lesson here.

So, "Can I do so-and-so?" in the future will be followed by "But don't do it, I'm only asking for future reference."

I very, very politely gave 'em hell.

..I gave up "On-line Banking" many years ago for all sorts of security, (or lack of), reasons... ...!

I pop into my local Bank now, to discuss various "things"......!

Obviosul;y depends which bank you are with. I'm surprised any bank would take an email as a verified authorisation because email is so easy to fake. If they have transferred money based purely on an email, as opposed to a PM within their system (which is completely different as you have to be logged in to do that) I think you would have a valid complaint.

My own bank required blood, DNA and my mothers faceprint on their door before I was authorised for internet banking  :D. To log in I have to provide 3 sets of information, with dropdowns for letters/ numbers and question variations, all which cannot be remembered by my PC. (no cookies allowed)

My password for simviation has a 1 trillion chance of being cracked & it's a fraction as secure as the bank.

I swear by internet banking, revolutionised my life. I can't imagine a bank making a transfer based on an email. ....
