Reminds me of that time where the B-52 "accidentally" carried a nuclear explosive device across the country and didn't know about it. I don't know how that relates but it stirs up memories.


If the booster rocket didn't go off then it isn't really that big of a deal i think.

Hmmm. It will stay there for a few momre days? Why don't they just transport these things on planes like the dreamlifter or something? It would probably be more efficent with the gas prices now.

Maybe it wasn't traveling far enough to take an airplane ride? Also, I would assume it would take somewhere in the neighborhood of $250,000-500,000 to move something that large by aircraft. I may even be low on that estimate. Also trucks and jet planes burn basiacally the same fuel, only jets burn a lot more of it per mile. It's a low-budget military these days.
Besides that, there's all kinds of stuff you don't want to know about traveling down the highways and on the rails every day.
I've also seen and know of happenings that would make you run into a cave and hide.

No. But the DOE does have it's own fleet of trucks contracted to deliver material the USAF and other places.

Its not a live missile. Its a booster.

HUGE massive difference. If it was a full work up nuke, they would be swarming all over it, crews would of arrived right off to contain and then transport it away the very same day. Within hours to be honest.

The truck was traveling from Minot Air Force Base to a launch facility in northwestern North Dakota when it crashed on the gravel road Thursday morning between Parshall and Makoti, about 70 miles from the air base.

It was relatively close to an airbase so it's not like they truck these things accross the whole country.

I hope no-one jokes about the Minot Air Force base scare involving a B-52 and nukes. 4- 6 have... ehrm... died.

That's true. The solid propellant is nasty stuff on it's own, and if it accidentally ignites (not likely) there's no way to turn it off.
