Also off the subject but I hear from some people that the marines is the lowest class like the first to go in, big front line guys.
I sent them a pre-application just like with the Navy and Air Force. Although I couldent find anything about pilots on there website.. :-?

I always compare the size requirements for becoming a Pilot very similar to the size requirements of a Jockey for riding a Race Horse...

.....smaller and lighter is better...;)...!

Whereas the requirements for becoming a Marine is that you should be built like a brick S**t House, have a shiny head built out of a lump of concrete...and can constantly repeat the only word you know, eg; "Sir!".... :)...!

To become a Sailor, you must have the ability to completely ignore any reaction to the welcoming words; "Hello Sailor!"... :-*...!

...other wise you should be good to go... :)... :)... :)...!

Paul.... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

Yeah we are the first ones in, because we are kind of considered to be a "mercenary" force.

They're not really the same...

Height - minimum 163 and maximum 193cm.

http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/airforce/ ... uirements/

So infact the minimum height is taller than most jockeys.

Hey, I'm 6'5" and I'm an inch below the limit, so there's no problem with the Air Force (if I'm not careful, they might switch me over to recruiting ;D).  The officer I interview with said they stuffed a friend of his who was a linebacker in college into the A-10. :D

I've often wondered how anyone who is 6' 5" tall can fit in a Cessna 150 Trainer... :o...!

I manage it quite nicely with my 5' 7"...

...(and that just my height)... ;)...!

...and 154 LBS weight...

...(and thats just my body weight)...;)...!

Our Clubs little Cessna 150 goes like a Rocket, with just lil' ol' me P1, and my tiny Instructor sitting in P2... 8-)... ;D...!

There must be a disadvantage in being tall and heavy, for flying an Aircraft?...(especially a Cessna 150!)... ::)...!

Paul...G-BPLF.... ;D...!

With a great deal of difficultly, Cessna hired cat-flap engineers to make the doors, but once you get inside its fine,...mostly :P

heres my completely unbiased view (not that it matters very much)

USAF: I've been to McChord AFB, in the cafeteria they had their plates in a refrigerator (WTF?) also if you gonna fly C-5's, they smell funny (but what plane doesn't?) But I guess the fighters are pretty cool.

USN: Besides the lack of beauty sleep (your bunkmat will always think your beautiful  ;D) It's like the airforce, except for the flying part, which way harder. I think you get to fly more, as a carrier has a constant CAP around it.

USCG: THE Coast Guard doesn't get enough kudos, they fly in the worst weather. since it doesn't sound like your gonna do whirly birds, You'd proably mostly be doing SAR without the AR part.

USMC: Now despite the fact that I was practically raised around and by Marines, I can say without being influenced by my personal life that the USMC is best at everything. Pilots, Troops, everything. And you will definately gain tollerance to pain (never wear baggy pants, trust me).

yup, completely unbiased.

Well to be honest I wasnt really thinking about joining the marines but I knew they were tough. I was looking forward more to the Navy and the Air Force. I sent like a pre-application to the Naval Academy and Air Force Academy..
I think I already stated that but I got a letter and brochure back from the Air Force Academy.
The brochure stated that if you dont get into the Air Force Academy you are automatically be considered for attentence at the Academy preparatory school. You learn all the classes like english, math, science, military training, and athletic development. Then if you get good enough grades you can enter the academy with the new cadet class.
Im guessing that this preporatory school is like a whole year. Thats what I might do if I dont get into either academys or any good schools that accept me, but ive still got 4 years of high school left..
Just became a freshman today  8-), although im no longer the big guy on campus becuase im a lower class.. :-/  ;D
