If you didn't know Bill Gates the former CEO and president of Microsoft stepped down yesterday June 27th after years of revolutionising the way people interacted with computers with the promise of a computer running Microsoft software in everyhome.

When you've been earning billions and are subsequently worth billions, you can AFFORD to step down.  ;)

Nah, his kids 'only' get 10 million each, the rest goes to charity.

And who cares, STEVE JOBS FTW!

I saw this on the TV earlier in the week.

Seems like a bit of a bad loss, but he is doing it for the greater good, so thumbs up to him. Its nice to see people in his position actually doing something to help others. You sometimes see multi-million or even billionaire celebrities giving a few hundred thousand to a million to those less fortunate- which to them is like the average person giving a few quid away to charity.

I wish him the best... he isn't giving a few million away (which would hardly scratch him atall) but instead he is making a huge chunk of his money help others... I hope it all goes well!

I just wonder how Microsoft will develop- Gates seemed to be the brains of it and now we have lost him  :(

microsoft may do worse because he's gone but a lot worse because of this

my favourite part is
A Microsoft marketing representative was heard muttering, "You got that right."
