I'd bet there's a lot more to it than just two telescopes focused on the same point.  I wonder if they can do interferometry.  I'd assume that would make for huge increses in the data the scopes can gather.

great ,but I don't see the point ,thru optical interferometry at least 50Mts away would less atmospheric abberation confusing images than having two giant mirrows 2 meter separate :-/ , besides one of the biggest interferometer wich has 4 mirrows of 8 meter diameter each one in the hills of Paranal in Chile

True, but this telescope is larger, much larger,  which gives it much more detail then the Hubble. the Atmosphere does have an effect but here in the southwest we have some of the clearest skies imaginable, mainly because we are located away from the jet stream. So although its a factor, its minimal.

As far as the 400D adapter, I'm only like an hour or two away from it, I'll go ask  ;D
