There is nothing illegal about downloading Bit Torrent, its what you download using bit torrent that is illegal...most of torrent files are illegal so you should steer clear ;)

If it is from a payware vendor, yes it is illegal.

If I were you, I would delete this before you end up getting banned.  Piracy is one of the few things around here that will get you booted without a second thought...

As Kevin says, but another good reason for steering clear is the amount of stuff on offer that has viruses, spy ware, key stroke loggers and a multitude of other unwanted programs.
You will find freeware/shareware, but in general bit torrents mean other peoples hard work that has been ripped off and that equals piracy and piracy equals bye bye SimV, it was nice to know you.

There are some legit uses of BitTorrent but by and large it is illegal stuff!
Updates for X-Plane used to be done using BitTorrent to save on server space (I've not used X-Plane for over a year so I don't know if they still do things that way).
Bram Cohen who originally invented BitTorrent designed it for aiding the distribution of legal stuff between multiple users.

Quite a lot of BF2 mods use bit torrents.
I think that it's a lot easier to use but the piracy side of it is hiding its full potential.

Bit Torrents are a fantastic way of distribution for legal stuff, for illegal stuff! gits!

its brilliant for as Anark said Game Mods who don't want to have to spend a fortune on a high bandwidth web hosting service so they can distribute a 1gb file for free and it will constantly get faster so long as people seed the files :)

Bit Torrents are not illegal, its a very legal and sensible method of distributing large files, the content is what gets judged legal or illegal.

what was the original question?
