"They had also seen us as just a bunch of freeloading backpackers", I hate to say I told you so, but......I have to admire his faith in his fellow man.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I bet he's still drawing unemployment benefit. I would have more respect for these "alternative lifestyle" people if I wasn't contributing to their welfare. ::)

I love the way these people can't see their own contradictions:

hoped that strangers along the way would provide him with food and places to stay.

Eeejit. They should make him swim back. And not from Calais to Dover - make him go from Cherbourg...

Like Doug, I shudder to think that I pay the best part of a grand a month in tax to fund freeloaders like him. >:(

"He is a member of the Freeconomy movement, which believes in a " moneyless society in which no money changes and there is no duality between giving and receiving", and would like to see money disappear altogether"

And the sign on his backpack:

"Walking 12,000km for Peace"

those are funny!  How exactly are goods and services going to change hands in a society with no money nor duality between giving and receiving?  The strong will take from the weak.  The whole freeconomy movement is nothing but economic justification of violence.

TSC:

'Freeloading', 'complete opposite', so he expects people he's never met before to provide him with food & shelter wherever he is, in exchange for no money - he doesn't even mention doing a few odd jobs here & there to make up for food & shelter provided - if thats not 'freeloading' then I don't know what is.

Exaclty.  How is what he was doing anything but freeloading?  What a moron.  If he's so anti-duality of giving and receiving, then perhps he should work on the giving part.  I doubt there would be as much objection if the guy were giving stuff away instead of taking.

I guess you couldn't be too critical if the sign was given for free.

;D ;D
