Something To Look Forward To

Postby Ben R » Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:04 pm

Well, On April the 22nd and 23rd, The Royal Navy has organized an event for year 11 pupils are my school who are interested in a career in the Navy. We will go to Portsmouth and have a guided tour of HMS victory, and witness the working day of the crew of the training vessel HMS Bristol, where we will spend the night with the crew in there quarters.

We will also take part in the Royal Navy Swimming Test.

:) Something to look forward too :)

A tour of the Victory is always welcome, sooo much history & national pride crammed into one place, you'll enjoy it. Just remember that conditions in todays navy have come along way from 1805, sadly you won't get your daily rum rations anymore.

The HMS Victory is the one ship I would definitely want to tour.

Benj, I hope you walk away from the experience with a sense of pride. The Royal Navy has a rich history. I highly recommend you read "To Rule the Waves: How the British Navy Shaped the Modern World by Arthur Herman.
