Assault Vests help (Airsoft/Paintball)

Postby masmith » Sun May 27, 2007 10:34 am

Im thinking about buying an assault vest for the use of Cadets, instead of the webbing we are supplied with as I would like something that is my own and I can adjust to suit me. :)

I know many of you here are into Airsoft and Paintball many of you use military vests for those purposes.

I would like to know if any of you use these two vests...and if so what are they like...Pics would be nice (if im not pushing to hard ;)).

I don't really need 4 ammo pouches but I like the layout and look of the combat vest...

Any other suggestions are welcome...

I'd say standard British issue webbing is perfectly good. I've still got a full set of '58 with a few odd extras like a '44 water bottle etc.
Any military supply type place should be able to get it for you. Failing that you can always try Silvermans in London as they're excellent for kit ;)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

ahh the old 58, i have about 3 sets of it in the attic, thats what 5 years as a cadet does to ya :P
but man those buckles didnt half dig into the old shoulders when worn for a week or so realy started to hurt,

assault vests are so useless. go with the combat vest.

Yer I do prefer, the combat vest...however it only has 2 utility pouches...I can fit mess tins, cooker and rations in one, and a canteen and cup in the other.

I was just wondering if there was any way to take out the divisions in the ammunition pouches and use those for other stuff.

and also on some cadet competitions they make you carry 2 canteens >:(...

if its for cadets then the above to are useless, you need something that you can mod to fit your needs.

get a kit of 98 much more useful than both those gimmicks.
take it from me, someone with experience in the matter, combat and assault vests are just gimicky. you can not beat a good old kit of proper webbing
