Sorry to hear that you've lost a good friend at a young age Nemo. That's always sad.

I'm sure he would appreciate this total lack of respect.....

So, I'm driving along I-95 going about

65 miles an hour, minding my own business,

and all of a sudden, outta nowhere, lo and behold,

there's a big crack in my windshield.

Seriously though,  Having been on the bad end of a car vs. motorcycle, I can tell you the bike never wins.

I was on my way home from work one night when some woman in a Pinto pulling out from a liqour store decided she needed to be where I wanted to ride.  My last thought before I hit and blacked out was " This is going to hurt..."  I vaguely remember waking up on the ground and seeing the turn signal by my head.  No bike, just the turn signal.  Then I was waking up in the ambulance.  The first thing I asked was what happened, followed by "God I hope I put a big dent in her car..."  No major injuries, just a concussion and some road rash.

Anyone who rides a motorcycle without a helmet is a complete moron.  That's experience speaking.  ;)

Interesting to see the vein of comments from the bikers out there... proff that it's hazardous enough riding; being stupid makes it much worse. You'd think more bikers would at least consider their own safety... but I guess most of them do.
I'm reminded of something more than one biker has told me: "There are two kinds of bikers- those who've at least dumped the bike, and those who will someday. I still want to get one eventually, but one is very vulnerable astride those suckers... got to be extra-careful.
Hope nobody thinks I'm bashing bikers- I'm only bashing the idiots. And don't get me started on 4-wheeled idiots, they're just as bad and do much more damage. ;D
