As for gas prices when we pay nearly $7 a gallon in the UK - I think we have much more to cry about. I think the US folks could start by reducing the car weight and sizes down a bit before speaking. ;)

Yes...but healthcare if you need it is a :-X  I would rather have $7 a gallon gas if heathcare was free.  Insurence plans can be a joke :-/

Still...quite an interesting idea.  Never thought of something like that.  I know Japan has an artificial beach, but can't say i've ever seen one of these.  Kind of crazy some of the things people come up with ;)

No, no, no.  That's only when the ice age comes back. ;D

Don't you love a city that can be both cold (well, chilly at most) and humid?  Amazing... :P :'(

There are several in the UK, including Tamworth, as mentioned by Craig. Having said that, I expect the air-con bill for this one is a little larger. Our problem in the UK is our lack of decent mountains... :)

I saw the Discovery Channel programme on the building of this ........ its the centrepiece to a huge shopping mall. I also think it is now the largest  snowdome in the world.
The centre span was build on the ground then lifted into position.
The raising of the centre span took 3 days if I remember correctly it was held up by high winds and having to check the structure everytime there were  any untoward noises. Four Huge hydraulic jacks underneath and cables run through winches at the tops of the towers did the lifting.
There were further delays before opening due to poor welding in the refrigeration system.
The dome and shopping centre were supposed to open at the same time but becauce of the delays the dome was late.

@Eno: it is NOT the largest (there is one in holland that is some 120m longer), but it surely is the boldest
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur
