I knew Tesco's is a highly successful company but this surprised me. They already have 31 stores in China with 15 more planned for this year. http://www.tescocorporate.com/page.aspx?pointerid=A8E0E60508F94A8DBA909E2ABB5F2CC7

The next Starbucks. ;D

Wal-Mart will assimilate all... even Tesco. Resistance is futile...

...wait; China?! Uh-oh...

...Welcome to Tesco; would you like a shopping cart?

(just practicing)

I think Tesco will do well.

From what I have read, it appears that Tesco is very similar in market placement to the Raba chain that is doing well around here in Southern Ontario. Raba has positioned itself as a cross between a large convenience store and a small supermarket. The placement in this position has allowed Raba to compete quite well against both convenience store and grocery stores.

Call it the battlecruiser of shopping...powerful enough to kill anything that can catch it, fast enough to outrun anything strong enough to kill it.

...you will have to get used to the new descriptions from the English......

..."Shopping Trolley"...;)...!!

(The smaller version, without wheels, and carried over your arm is called a "Shopping Basket"...)...;)...!

What goes in both of them are referred to as "Items"..

....and if you attempt to go through a "Check-Out" with more "Items" than are allowed on the notice above your head, you get shot.
(That's the way it works over here)... :'(...!

LOL... ;D...!

Paul... 8)...!

.... :P...!

Paul is quite right. But your English was in serious need of repair - be honest. :P

I think getting shot would be Tesco policy in the US Paul - we just throw rotten vegetables here. ;D

Of course that will be automated by Sentry guns which scan the number of items...

I know Poland refused Tesco permission from building anything after taking a peak at things in Britain. :o

According to my previous link Tesco has 78 stores in Poland with another 20 planned.

I'm no expert on the subject but Tesco is described as the largest supermarket giant in the UK. I note that the American stores will be based on the 'Tesco Express' small shop format. These are usually located in places like petrol filling station forecourts. http://www.imaginerecruitment.com/jobs/featured/tesco_express.php

Also busy town/city centres where obviously a large shopping centre is impossible. ;)

It's a funny old do...
But here in England I have a choice of a number of local Supermarkets; Tesco's, Sainsbury's, Morrison's, etc...
..but the supermarket which I prefer is the one, (Sainsbury's), which although is slightly more expensive than the rest is more "Customer-Friendly" than the rest.. ;D...!

The "Others" seem to employ employees who are employed "Part-time", and of little or no interest in their customers...!

I am always prepared to pay a little bit more for a smiling/ laughing/happy welcome to the Store of my choice...
;D...!

Paul... 8)...!

...and a cuddle with the check-out girls always makes my day....
.....trust me... ;D...!
