Parents worst nightmare

It's very tragic Craig & it might be the worst thing that's happened to this particular parent but this sort of thing is unfortunately not uncommon. A recent case in my home town involved a young man committing suicide. Soon after his funeral his twin brother did the same thing as he couldn't face life without him. I believe his body was found by his mother so she might equally claim that this was the worst thing that could happen to any parent. You can read similar stories in the papers almost every week.

I note that using a mobile phone while driving is quoted as possibly contributing to one of these accidents. People still don't realise the danger of doing this & it cannot be compared with having a conversation with passengers actually in the vehicle. You only have to watch someone using a mobile while walking in the street to realise that. They are usually blissfully unaware of their surroundings or other pedestrians.

Fair enough Doug. But too loose both of his kids, his only kids at that. On the same night, and having driven past one accident that killed one of them. Only to find out who it was later.

Yes Craig but I've read about plenty similar or even worse. Ths is just one example of the terrible things that some people go through. I won't go into details here as, being a parent myself, just thinking about some of these tragedies reduces me to tears.

This is indeed tragic.  I don't know if you may remember, during WWII, there were five brothers on the same ship in the US navy.  All five were killed when the ship was sunk (one of whom was married and had a child).

Since then, it was the policy to separate siblings in the armed forces (don't know if this was changed back...Romulus?)

I know a girl who is in the national guard, and in the same unit with her older brother. She didn't enlist untill after her brother, along with the rest of the unit went to iraq, so I don't know if they would have been deployed together if she had enlisted a year or two earlier.

My mom used to work for Allstate (an insurance company) and some of the stories she told me are absolutley horrible. I am so thankful I haven't personally experienced anything this horrendous my whole life.

idk, these aren't that alike. i can understand how a person would feel if their sibling was killed, they couldn't take the stress. it's another if a person fins out that his two sons die near each other on accident. thats not changable, it just happens. there wasn't anything he could do.

Back in my high school years, in a single prom night, several students died in traffic-related accidents [one of them being a suicide]. Then there was another accident in the following days [one car changed lanes without signaling, caused the student to vear off and hit a tree]. And then there were a few more accidents.

All in the same damn month!

The school recognized this as the most tragic month in years. As a result, more students began to think about safety more often than joyriding. In retrospect, one would see a good side to the tragic month.

idk, these aren't that alike. i can understand how a person would feel if their sibling was killed, they couldn't take the stress. it's another if a person fins out that his two sons die near each other on accident. thats not changable, it just happens. there wasn't anything he could do.

The mother of those twins might not agree with that. I'm sure she's feeling the same sense of shock & suffering the same anguish the father of those two boys is feeling.
