You also want to make sure the compressor coils are clean. A fridge will pull air through these coils to heat the air and cool the refrigerant. If the coils are dirty then you don't get adequate air flow and the fridge needs to work too hard to cool the inside.
I thought mine was going bad and called a repairman. He cleaned out the coils on the bottom of the fridge and it worked perfectly since then. Took ten minutes with a shop vac.
