It sounds like Rifleman has been to Tobermory. :)

I don't scuba but did a pile of snorkeling during the 80s. Went around a fair bit in Florida (around Panama City Beach), but did most of my dives in Bermuda. It was a real blast to go in and around the coral.

Two most memorable experiences...

1. Having a barracuda bounce of my mask as I turned around a projection of coral...I think both of us were terrified, we both fled at high speed (like it was really going to help me if a 'cuda was chasing me!).

2. Doing a dive on a mid-sized fish in an oil can on the ocean side of the reef around Bermuda. My ears popped twice and on the second time I got alarmed...I then realized that the mid-sized fish was somewhat larger than expected...a grouper in a 55 gal oil drum! That was probably the deepest I ever went...it was a big shock to look for the surface and see my dive buddy looked like a little kid. :)

Both experiences were a prime example of why you take a buddy...even when snorkelling.

Stay Safe.

Best diving I ever did was off Rhodes, lovely.
I'd still love to dive the Great Barrier Reef..... one of these millenia!
I hear that off Croatia is good, maybe next summer.

My best experience diving was the first time I did the Eagle.  There were Barracuda everywhere!  we went down the bouy line, and got the the top side of the wreck (the port side of the ship as it's on it's side) at 70 ft.  We did a tour of the ship, and visited a large Jewfish that used to reside there and was very popular with the divers.  If you've never seen a Jewfish, they are HUGE!  Then we went into the hold, and through the missing glass onto the bridge.  Finally, we hit the crow's nest and went to the bottom at 120 ft.

All in all, a great time.  ;D

Then there was the time I got Nitrogen Narcosis and turned around and hugged a complete stranger underwater.  That guy thought I was nuts...  ::) ;D

My 4 or so SCUBA dives  in Jamaica were pretty uneventful (but beautiful!), but I've had a little fun snorkeling....
Like the first time I went in off Cocoa Beach; just waded into the surf near the Breakers Hotel, there's ruins of an old freight  pier there.... also, at that point the Gulf Stream comes very close to shore, bringing warmer water and lots of tropicals you'd nnormally see much farther south.
Anyway, my buddy and I flippered out about 30 yards, intent on getting a closer look at some rather large barracuda hovering near the ruins, when out of nowhere these two juvenile sea turtles (Greens, I think) came zooming across our field of view! They circled around us a few times- they were very curious, and maybe suspected we'd have food. I reached out and touched one, and my buddy later chided me for doing so. But I didn't grab the little guy- just touched him.
That was sheer magic, having those suckers come over to play. I think sea turtles are fascinating.

As I have said my sole experience of Snorkling was having my head over the side of a rubber boat looking for a lost anchor. What fun. ;D

Indeed I have Steve.....started with an open water checkout in that area, .....
.....did a fair bit of shore diving off the rocks on the eastern side of Georgian Bay.......Killbear was always a fav for dives as deep as 65 ft with no trouble.......
