Tacit checks in from EAA

Postby TacitBlue » Sat Jul 30, 2005 11:10 am

Well guys, I'm at Airventure now in the Member Village tent where members can use the net for 15 minutes at a time. You know how everyone says that this place is unbelievably huge? Well, let me tell you something- I still dont know how big this place is and it's my third day here! I keep getting lost, but thats OK in a place like this. Yesterday i was wandering around the warbirds section and suddenly I heard this voice on a microphone talking about flight testing the F-86. I followed the sound and there was non other than Bob Hoover himself giving a little talk on his experiences testing the Sabre. That was a real treat, but it caused me to miss a forum with Chuck Yeager. Doesn't matter, I'll catch him today. I am so exhausted, I might have to call in sick on monday so I can stay home and sleep. expect lots of pictures when I get back... after I fix my POS computer.

I had a "Hoover or Yeager?" moment myself at Airventure '03, but managed to eventually hear both of them speak. And yes, it is damn big, isn't it? There's just no way to see and do all you want to do in just one week.
One suggestion, offhand: take a ride in the EAA Trimotor; it's very cool. In fact, the museum itself is a must-see, even with all the action out on the airport grounds...

Yeah, I'm done now, don't think I'll go tommorrow just because I'm soooo tired. The huge warbirds show was great though! 8)

Alright Bob Hoover rocks dude!  Have you read his book?  Very cool stuff

Check it out- the kid is tired! awww, poor baby!!;)
This old geezer drove out from New York, slept in a tent every night, and was fresh as a daisy after five solid days of Airventuring!! Haha!!

Okay... I'll admit I was exhausted too... in fact, I was tired when I got there... and bewildered and sunstroked by the middle of the second day. On the third day, my legs turned to jelly, by the fourth day I was rallying, by the fifth I felt like I could go on forever, and on the morning I left I got thoroughly exhausted just thinking about the drive home... ;D
I think I'm gonna go next year... ;D

I'm back! Wow, what an experience. I filled 232Mb of memory card space (3 different cards) with pictures and there are still things I wish I had taken pictures of. It's going to take some time to sort through all of them, and I need to fix my stupid computer, so expect pictures to be up later this week at the soonest.
