They are AAA cells and most rechargable cells of this size are only 1.2volts (have a look on ebay)

You can sort this out using your battery charger and check it out using a voltmeter/ammeter.
Voltmeter in parallel with the batteries.
Ammeter in series with the batteries.

I have a number of different electrical meters for such applications....I couldn't manage without them when involved in electronics/electrics.

By the way....as you are obviously a keen model-maker, have you tried the model makers forums for assistance...?

Paul....;D....!

P.S. ...and what was all this about...;)...?

How about a picture of this plane of yours? I would be interested to see it.

Be careful in charging NiCad batteries at a rate higher than noted on each cell......the internal resistance will cause the batteries to heat as you charge them and if you don't have a "delta peak detect charger" you may do damage due to overcharging and overheating.........the charger I use has a peak cutoff circuit, which will stop the charge once the cells are "full".....I think you may find info on this type of charger from Hitec.....mine is an older one, model number "Hitec 325"
