You can sort this out using your battery charger and check it out using a voltmeter/ammeter.
Voltmeter in parallel with the batteries.
Ammeter in series with the batteries.
I have a number of different electrical meters for such applications....I couldn't manage without them when involved in electronics/electrics.
By the way....as you are obviously a keen model-maker, have you tried the model makers forums for assistance...?
