Also make sure you can fit in the Cub. ;)

The club I mentioned at Shoreham does that NPPL course on the Cub. I know a chap who's doing it right now.

That one you posted looks good. If you can get 3 weeks off work its got a good live in training scheme. But how many people can get 3 weeks.

Underneath that is the hourly rates, I can fit into a 172 and that is

Shoreham would be great but it's just too far away for the commitment of travelling down on a day off for one hour every week.

I wasn't suggesting you do it at Shoreham. In fact, the closer to home the better. The weather might be quite different on the airfield to where you are. I speak from experience as I worked for a flying club for a couple of years although this was many years ago. What I meant was that the Cub fits nicely into the weight limit for the NPPL. I'm not sure about the 172.

Is there anything still going at Rochester?

Isn't Rochester one of the airfields under threat?

Yep, but for once the local residents said they preferred having an airfield to a business park.

Believe me the pleasure is all mine ;D

I haven't been to Rochester Airfield yet but I have nearly crashed three times on the M2 doing 90+ because I've been watching aircraft on final when I should be watching the road ::)

I'll check out that school Doug because it's 10 minutes from home, amazingly though the weather can be very different there from here.

Odd.

Congrats, Will- not sure what your future plans are as an aviator, but  whatever school or aircraft you choose, look thoroughly first, ask a lot of questions, and don't settle for the cheapest if you like the feel of a more expensive outfit you might come across.
I went with the cheapest school at TEB and ended up getting what I paid for, if you get my drift- good instruction, but too much CFI turnover, lost records, disorginazation, cranky airplanes, etc., etc. Cost me more in the long run than it might have at some place charging , say, $10/hr more for time.
And of course if you find a good club you'll get the most bang for your buck- not only usually cheaper, but there's a lot more you'll get out of being a member than just flying lessons and cheap tach time.

Will, I'm the same size as you.  I took my disco flight in a 172...fit like a glove. ;)
Great edit, Bob.
