it was a blood bath....

jeeez..ive had the day from hell..and i gotta tell someone..
yesterday i noticed my dog, a lurcher, had a bit of a sore on the end of one of his ears, so i cleaned it up and came to the conclusion it was mange. right, i thought, off to the vets on teusday....
woke up this mornin, and the house is covered with blood..and i mean everywhere.... he had been shakin his head through the night, and because of his bloody big ears had managed to pebbledash the place....it was up the walls, on the floor, ceiling, absolutley everywhere..phoned the vet straight away, couldnt see him till 5 pm! no f#%!kin use.... she said, and i quote..."dont worry, he wont bleed to death from his ear"
i thought it was a little more serious than that so phoned another vet. took him straight up, got the inside of my (stripped out...) pug covered in blood, turns out he's severed an artery in his ear, and had to be knocked out to get it sorted..so the first vet was bloody wrong, and didnt seem interested in what i was tryin to say.....to top it all off, my g/f cooks a lovely roast cos i hadnt eaten all day, i sit down to eat, dog comes in, shakes head, bandage flys off, and.......yeah, you guessed, no dins for me, and another bath needed....
im sittin here now with a can of beer and a fag, and ive locked my self in the spare room. so if anyones had a worse day than that, please tell me about cos i might feel better.....

Well, that 'can of beer and a fag' line made me smile if nothing else did, so you can feel better about that.  ;D

First of all, you might want to explain to some of the non-British contingent what you mean by "fag"... :D !!
But you have my sympathy. Imagine having a 3-legged dog with one injured foot! I'll never forget the day a few years ago when Peg got a nasty slash in one pad from a piece of glass on the sidewalk. It happened early one morning and I had to get to work, so i wrapped it up best I could and tried not to worry (she usually lies around all day anyway...). Naturally, when I got home early and unwrapped it, it was still bleeding profusely. Went to the after-hours clinic and got it stapled. She was a good sport about it all until she saw the stapler...!! Anyway, it was just pathetic watching her tried to walk on two feet and one heavily-bandaged foot for a few days.
Only other incident was the first time I left her with friends for a week while I was away... she started scratching the top of her head and almost dug a hole in her head!!
Hope your mutt is OK now; I like pugs. They're not really little dogs- just mastiffs that got shrunk somehow.

It always cracks me up to hear British folks say 'fag', even though I know what it means.....

cheers guys! the ear looks to be healing quite well, the problem is keeping the bandage round his head.  without it when he shakes his head it just agitates the wound and opens it up again...so if i can keep it on for long enough then all will be good..
ps. ive resorted to gaffa tape to stick it to itself, seems to be workin!  :)
