..........what was your first experience with FS?......when you are griping on about FRs and dodgy graphics in FS9, just think how far it has progressed and enjoy this great piece of software that we have today for what it has become...............Sinclair Spectrum was much WORSE

My first flight sim was for the MSX.  Must have been in the early eighties. The only thing you saw was some kind of panel and a view outside. As soon as you took off this view changed into a white screen with a small black dot on it that moved in the direction you wanted the "aircraft" to go. Never liked it that much. Many years later I got FS98 and I never stopped flying.

Crash ;)

My first FS was FS4. But I've only tried it one or two hours.

That looks very similar to what I remember the one I had on C-64, to be......

....brings back memories of long sessions of my "then wife" calling me to dinner......" be there in a sec ............"

Wow, I have never seen that sim before.  The oldest flight sim type game I played was like that graphic wise (the original Red Baron) but my first M$ flight sim game was CFS1 and then shortly after that FS2000.  But, even with those-I am shocked how much they have changed.  I installed FS2000 a while back just to try it again and I was amazed how much the games had changed between FS2000 and FS9.

mine would be FS98, I think... I was reading a thread on another board about "Fleet Defender" an old F-14 combat sim that was meant o be really good, anyone ever play it?

First MSFS for me was FS5, with the Camel... Previously I'd flown F-15 Strike Eagle III and AV-8B Harrier Assault... ;D

Where is the Sopwith Camel and the WW1 part of that sim?

My first FS had that and I used to play that quite a bit. That and fly from Miegs field to Champaign-Urbana a lot following the line that represented I-57.

The first flight sim I remember was "lander"...I think it was a game you programed in yourself from the text in a magazine (remember those?)

The game had even less detail, flickered, and ran on an apple IIe!

How times have changed (now I hope to get my video card tomorrow and get flying!)

But those "Lander" clones are still one hell of a lot of fun! ;D
