Going digital...

Postby Wing Nut » Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:06 pm

Well the wife and I decided the other night it was time to go digital and lose all of our old CD's.  I think I'm going to build a multi-media rig just to hook up to the stereo and TV.  I look at some of the dedicated MM machines out there (designed for home theater and stereo) and they were around $200.00.  I could build a system for $500, and I could take my spare computer and set it up for about $200.  A bit of a savings...

So now, what do I do with 350 CD's and a 400 disc CD player?  ::)

May I suggest keeping the cd's around for awhile? They will more than likely be worth some money someday....save em for the kids and perhaps they will benefit from the money someday?

As for the CD player I'm sure you will have no problem finding someone to take it off of your hands.. ;-)

Most of my CD's are run of the mill stuff, but I do have quite a few MFSL and DCC audiophile CD's like Dark Side of the Moon and others that are worth quite a bit.

As I understand, you want to put all of your music on a hard-disc, then sell or give away all your cd-s. Nice thought, until your hard-disc crashes and you are left with nothing. I should keep the cd-s as a backup.

Just a thought.

Crash ;)

I've been in La-La land for the past few months.  Basically, just working on a few things personal here and there.  ;)

I already have them on my HD, but I also made a DVD backup of the MP3 files.  It took four 8.5 Gig discs to store them all.  If you make backups you never have to worry about crashes.
