Isnt shortwave used for CB radios? Ultra high frequency might be military.

What kind of range does something like that have?  Personally, I like to listen to radio chatter, but I'm not about to make an escapade out of it... :P

I've met (bored, nosy) people who could pick up neighbors' cordless phone (not cellphone) transmissions on their SW radios... food for thought (and probably illegal).

I'm not sure if they changed it but I remember when CB radio was first introduced in the UK it was on the 27Mhz band. This caused a lot of panic among R/C modellers at it was the same as used on their AM transmitters/receivers. This was about the time that the 35MHz Band was assigned to model aircraft but many people were still using the old equipment. Model cars & boats still do. Rather than cause bad feelings between the CB radio fans & modellers, I & some other modellers approached the local CB club & arranged to do some tests. Needless to say we proved beyond doubt that our fears were groundless. We also made a lot of new friends. ;)
