Little smart-ass... I like him. Reminds me of another certain 12-year-old who used to pester his parents with questions they couldn't answer ... ;D

In my experience the average 12 year-old is brighter & far more sensible than most people give them credit for.

Definitely.  Being 12, I have to contend with this almost everyday.  Some people just don't seem to understand that a twelve year old can be in Grade 9.  It is true that people my age are frequently underestimated.  It's a sad fact, but I've learned to live with it.

Well, i dont know whats sadder, people who are 12 and underestimated or people of my age who cant factor
x2-9x+8

and i am in college and yes there are some people who cant factor that equation withought a calculator

I realise that I'm a very sad person indeed but I've never seen that equation before. ??? I wouldn't have the faintest idea of how to work it out even with a calculator. I also have no idea what it represents or why I would wish to use it. I was 62 years old last Monday & after a successful career lasting 40 years I never needed it once. ;)

ooops sorry

its supposed to be

x2-9x+8=0

you simply have to factor it out

(x-1)(x-8 )=0

x=1   x=8

Well, if x = 1, the answer is 0, but my sympathie is by Hagar, not by a calculator.

The question is not: is the 12-year old boy intelligent (intelligent people enough, somewhere) - but does he like it, is he happy, can he have fun, does he have friends ...

This really doesnt question his intelligence becasue all he really did was know a lot about his home country, and did some research on it i the britanica, and knew some boring facts, which britanica has wrong. Honestly i only really see intelligence in complaining to the right people and getting an apoligy and response.
