'New' Giant Ape

[center]Saw this on the SimHq boards and thought I'd share it with the gang.
If this turns out to be true, what are we going to do about the Samsquanch (Sasquatch)?

[quote]Scientists believe they have discovered a new group of giant apes in the jungles of central Africa.
The animals, with characteristics of both gorillas and chimpanzees, have been sighted in the north of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to local villagers, the apes are ferocious, and even capable of killing lions.

A report about the mysterious creatures is published in this week's edition of the UK magazine New Scientist.

If they are a new species of primate, it could be one of the most important wildlife discoveries in decades.

The discovery of these apes "reveals just how much we still have to learn about our closest living relatives," New Scientist says.

'NEW' GIANT APE
Large, black faces (like gorillas)
Up to two metres tall (6.5ft)
Weigh 85kg-102kg (187lb-224lb)
Males make nests on the ground (like gorillas)
Diet rich in fruit (like chimps)

kinda reminds me of a movie I saw a few years ago....
sounds so close that this might not be a new discovery and that someone already knew about them  :P

I guess I don't know much about apes, 6'5" and 182lbs is about the size of most athletes, actually most pro football players are bigger than that.

What is a "normal" size for a ape?

I know I'm a bit hairy chaps, but that is crazy! I look nothing like a gorilla, I'm more of a gibbon in the looks and hair colour dept. ;D
