A Flight Sim story...(Long one)

Didnt know where to put this, if a mod fells its in a wrong place, please move it...
Here it goes:

Oh My! Its MSFS!

This was something I started thinking about the other day
when I was out for a spin and made a really good landing.

I remember it so well, like it was yesterday. Me and my family
was on our way to spain. It was the first time I ever flew.
My father asked one of from cabin crew If I could have a look
at the cockpit since I got all facinated by airplanes.
So, I went to the cockpit. And it became even more facinating
then the passenger cabin. Buttons! Everywere, and the view!
The pilot intruduced himself and the co-pilot. Then he told
me everything about the airplane. It was an MD-80. Then he showed
me how the airplane worked, and then some of the instruments.
I must have been there for over an hour!
Then he told me, that If I wanted to be a pilot, I should try
a computer program called "Flight Simulator" wich they were
selling onboard. So guess what was the only topic for the rest
of the flight? "Can I get Flight Simulator, please please please etc...

Well, I got it ofcourse. But then It was the wait to get home to my
copmuter! Oh, it was horrible! But, Finally after two weeks, I got
home...

I stared to install it, and the pics during the install was
wonderfull to look at!
Then, When I got into the airplane, it was the issue of getting it
airborne. It took me about 3 weeks before I got the hang of it.

Well, the months went by, and I got a little better at flying.
Then, one afternoon, when my father got home from work, he had
a verry interesting bag with him from a computer store near where
I live....

In it was Flight Simulator 98 and a Joystick!
Man, FS 98 was a whole new deal for me! Great graphics and
a....HELICOPTER!

Now that was flying! Then a few days later, he told me a friend at
work had told him that you could get even more planes from the
internet.  So I started serching the net for sites with add-ons.
First site I visited was Simviation. Oh my god! A whole new world
opened up before my eyes!

The years went by, and the computer got old. We had to get a new
one. And one of the programs that followed with it was FS 2000.
Man! A Concorde! It took a few months, but I finaly masterd the
supersonic flying.

That was how it all started. Thanks to that flight to spain,
a world of virtual flying opened up for me...
After that, more planes, and more FS versions followed, and now Im hooked.

Man, got a little long there...
Anyone else got an FS story to tell? How it all started, interesting to know...

I was addicted to console video games, but I finally decided they were holding me back in almost every way imaginable.  After I sold off them all, I really had nothing to do, I surfed the internet, and naturally, when one does something relating to computers, Microsoft eventually pops up.

While cruising around Miscrosoft's site, I stumbled along CFS2 - the screenshots more than wowed me!  Considering the only other sim activity I had was Warbirds 3D and FS98, CFS2 was amazing.  Eventually, it lured me into buying it.  Thank god I was teased with the Corsair and Zero!  If I would have flown the Corsair, Zero and Stuka to begin with, I might have heart problems now... :D ;)

Little did I know I was setting myself up for a second addiction. ::) So now, I'm... interested... in World War II and flight.

After awhile, I became aware of how the FS-ers don't regaurd the CFS-ers as serious simmers, and went to travel to their side of the pool with FS2002.  I was not dissapointed.  VOR and ILS skills ensued. ;)
The Devil's Advocate.

Well I had been playing non contact hockey with the old timers (anyone over 50) in this farm league when I decided I would help out moving the nets for ice cleaning.
Sure enough, down I went breaking an arm and bruising several ribs.

According to my mom, I was born with a fascination for aviation. That grew into an obsession when we got our first PC, and a copy of Chuck Yeager's Flight Simulator. 4-5 years years later, when I was 9, we got a brand new computer in 1995, along with a copy of Microsoft Flightsimulator for Win95. I logged hundreds of hours of flight time in it.

I bought FS98 several months after it was released, and logged hundreds of more hours of flight time. It turned into a complete obession, so much that my parents were trying to limit my time on the computer. My reaction? I got up between 4:30 & 5:00 in the morning as often as I could to fly without being caught. In 1999, I bought my first computer, and was flying more then ever.

It was in summer of 2000 that we got hooked up to the internet for the first time. It's then that I heard about FS2000 and was browsing FS2000's offical MS website when I saw section called 'communities'. After opening the website I saw a link to a community called 'Simviation'. I immediately discovered the world of addons and started downloading like crazy. I then found the forums here, registered, and started posting a little.

I bought FS2000, but due to a lot of things going on in my life, I wasn't flying near as much. I still flew often, but I only logged a 100 hours or so on it.

I bought FS2002 3 days after it was released, and I started flying more and more. I was averaging almost an hour of flight time a day. After moving here to Idaho in Febuary after some unfortunate things happening, I remembered Simviation. It had been several months since being here and it took a little while to remember the name. I found the forums very different and for some reason it wouldn't take my old username, so I re-registered this account. I logged 600 hours in FS2002

Before FS2004 was released, I was so excited, I pre-ordered it and had it shipped Next Day Air-Early AM so I wouldn't have to wait a few days before the stores up here carried them.

Due to work, finishing highschool, and my real flight training, I havn't flown it as much as I did with FS2002, but I try to fly it as much as I can ;)

And there you have it. My FS autobiography ;D 8) ;)
