Here in the US, you can usually get the BBC news at midnight and through most of the night on your local NPR (National Public Radio) stations

Thanks  :), it's great to be here!  And it's amazing how one can be away for several months and come back to find things very much the same.  It's nice to have an absolute or two in this crazy world.

Thanks for the tip, Andrew.  I know BBC news comes on Public TV briefly at night, but I wasn't aware it was on NPR....But it's a shame if the wide range of continuous programming is gone.

I think it should be possible to receive the BBC World Service almost anywhere in the world. Of course, you could also listen to any of their radio programmes online. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/

I get fed up with being constantly bombarded with news which is almost always depressing. I personally prefer BBC Radio 2 or 4.

Thanks, I need to get into the habit of streaming more, at least where I have a computer, and I'll have to try Radio 2 and 4.  I need an alternative to CNN, who repeat the same video clips literally for years.
