I was on holiday in Scarborough once when they found an unexploded mine of some sort on the beach. The whole area was sealed off while it was dealt with.  Those UXB guys are all heroes. IMHO
There was a unit based at Horsham near me for many years - the same outfit that cleared Shoreham Airport in the 70s. Not sure if it's still there now. I used to see them regularly & they were kept pretty busy. They were always finding bombs & mines for them to deal with.
