My heart has always gone out to the little airplanes.  However, I do believe that as much as everyone anticipates the A380, our airports do not have the kind of infastructure(spelling?) to handle the possibility of 750+ people on one airplane.  I watched a segment a few weeks ago on NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, showing that our airports have to install new types of gates to handle the A380.  They're spending millions to revamp their systems, and its YOUR tax money (I'm still a kid, my sales tax total has probably been less than $20) to do it.  I'm actually a conservative, but it runs in my family to be cheapos, and part of that is saving money on gas, so I'm all into fuel conservative vehicles, not because it'll make the grass greener, but because I will dish out less at the pump.

first of all, its unlikely to reduce the crowded skies. Just add to them.
Secondly Jay, the US isnt considered the main market for the A380, be it for customers or destinations. So far how many US carriers have actually ordered it? so far i can only name a cargo company that being Fed-Ex, Memphis runways are ready for it and since the super hub there is seperate from the rest of the airport, its done. I know a few others are almost ready aswell. But most other airlines, are thinking asia and australia routes right now. london singapore, london sydney. and so on all those airports and their respective taxpayers have to pay out for it too >:(
Some other news on the plane, Virgin have deffered their order till late 2008 and many other customers are thinking of doing the same.

The reality here for me on this Airbus/Boeing thing, is that we all benefit from the fact that if you have more people doing a similar task, then the chances of higher technology being developed is much greater.......
......it would be a sad aviation world, if we only had the line of aircraft decendants from Wilbur and Orville, and none of the other " Greats " had been heard from......I heartily look for the advances coming from this situation.

Aviation !.........Onwards, and Upwards !   ;) 8)
