Frankly the only IQ tests worth taking are the Mensa ones, as they are applied irrespective of age. I did well on mine many years ago, I was pleasantly surprised! It appears I'm a lot more clever than I look, which is a blessing

Yes, but Mensa tests aren't the only official tests.  I've toyed with the idea of joining Mensa, but it seems sorta pretentious.  lol

Dan, Mensa does not currently offer any tests online, but if you head to their website (www.mensa.org) they should be able to point you in the right direction.

IQ/Mensa tests : mmmmm...  good results mean you are good at (& have a liking for - by definition of 'are good at')  those particular type of tests .. but that's about as far as they reach...  8)

These tests tell you zit about real intelligence - however one may define that - be it a maths professor who cannot change a car spark plug - a virus creator who hadn't thought of the babies who could have & may have died as a result of his pathetic obsessions - or the gardener who spent his spare time creating beautiful poems only to be appreciated after his death - if ever.  8)

Basically it all boils down to personality & not our own egocentical panderings like 'IQ' - let alone one of the biggest human frailties - celebrity worship ....  ;)

Admire yourself & those around you for what you or they do - not what you or they appear to be.  8)

Very true, Pete, and a very frequently debated psychological principle.

Howard Gardner argued that there are nine areas of intelligence (verbal-linguistic, mathematical-logical, musical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist and existential)...which is why the Stanford-Binet Test (the standard IQ test) should be considered invalid.

Another frequently used IQ test is the Wechsler Test, which rates your intelligence on verbal and non-verbal areas.

Psychology is still arguing who is right.  lol

Well, I decided to take this test just to see what it was all about. Here's my score & comments.

& bearing in mind that I'm 61 years old, I reckon this must make me some kind of genius. I always said my abilities were underrated.

PS. I always understood there's a time limit on these tests. I took about 30 minutes to answer all the questions. Mind you, I've posted about 10 replies on the forum while doing it.

To get an IQ of over 100 when you are already 61 must mean that you are thinking at a chronological age much higher than 61.  Most of the 100+ year olds that I know dribble a lot and think that it is 1936.

Why is that you young'uns can drool all you like over some beautiful young lady & nobody takes any notice. If us old fogies do the same thing they call it dribbling & everyone is disgusted. Ageism I call it.
