Hi Doug....
....that is what I found confusing... ::)...!
The annoying pop-up Macromedia Flash Player ad only appeared on the SimV Forum, never on any other Site/Forum I browsed... ::)...!

It was a case of logical deduction. Yabb doesn't use Flash - Ergo: something else on the page does. The only other thing on the forum pages is the ads so one of them must be the cause of it. Just call me Sherlock. ;)

I have a big bar at the top that says 'Action Canceled' on it.  I get that a lot on different web pages.  Advertising just doesn't seem to appear.  I wish I new how I did it, because it's pretty handy.  Some pages get advertising, while other adds on the same page do not appear.

In Windows, you can go to Tools/ Internet Options/ Security/Custom Level and it gives you an option to de-activate ActiveX controls or to be prompted to allow them.  This little step will keep spyware from your system also.  You can add trusted sites that you know are safe (Like SimV) and they will be allowed.

Also, I have run across a time or 12 that a web site will have a pop-up that says you are required to accept a certain condition and you must answer yes.  Actually, some of these are tricks to get you to accept their ActiveX controls and are totally not necessary.  Try closing the window without accepting and see if you really need it.  You may have to do that several times.  One site, I had to do it about 15 times

Certain web developers (our beloved Pete being a most notable exception) are very tricky and will out ands out lie to you.  be wary...

This is a little animated tute I created to see if it would work. You need Flash Player installed to see it.

I thought this might come in very handy for explaining things & save a lot of words. Tell me what you think. It's not finished yet. You can run it again by refreshing your browser.

Thanks Foz. Glad you like it. Now, aren't you glad you bit the bullet & installed Flash Player? :P ;)

No voice-overs I'm afraid. I ain't that ambitious & it would take too long to load. My tutes will have any comments in little bubbles like cartoon strips. Quite a clever little program. You ain't seen the half of it yet. :o ;D

Fantastic idea Doug...!
...any chance of producing an animated tute for me showing how to set-up my video recorder, to switch it on, insert the video tape, select the correct channel, the correct time to start recording and the button to press to make it all happen.... :)...!
...and how to get the tape back out again after... ::)...!

Thank you Doug... ;D...!

Paul.
